Summary
"Legacy of Numidar" (or in short: LoN) is a uniqe multiplayer only indie game in development by a small number of contributors from all over the world.
LoN combines multiple genres and a wide variety of gameplay elements, such as horror survival, tactics, teamplay, combat, manipulation, trust/distrust, paranoia, non-combat solutions.
The game is about a group of characters (the Numidars) who are in a remote location (spaceship, space station, outpost on a planet, expedition, survivors of a shipcrash, etc.) and the Metamorph (a species that has infected one of them).
The goal of the Metamorph (in most game modes) is to kill or infect everyone else, while for the Numidars is to kill the Metamorph or to survive.
The Metamorph can morph into monster forms and has special capabilities to influence the other characters and the environment. (The objectives of the players and the game rules vary depending on the game mode.)
Manipulation
What makes LoN unique is the new method of gameplay where the enemy is inside the team and no one knows which member of the team is the Metamorph.
Gaining or losing trust is critical for the survival of the individual and the
entire team as well, and is an excellent weapon for the Metamorph. Framing an
innocent person, influencing the members of the team to work against each other is
one of the methods to prevent their survival.
Tactics and close combat
The cost of weapons, armors, items, the damaging capability of weapons, strength
of suits and armors, movement speed and health levels of characters, damaging
capability of the monsters, and special capabilities of the infected and its monster
forms are precisely defined to create well calculatable tactical situations.
Team-work
Working as a team is the best and nearly the only method of survival for the Numidars, while seperating them is the best and easiest way for the Metamorph to ensure their elimination, as a seperated team rarely has enough firepower to kill a monster before it kills them.
Horror survival
The Metamorph is a hidden inside enemy that either can infect others, can transform into monster forms or simply can kill others in its original (Numidar) form.
As a monster it can quickly regenerate from the deadliest wounds and can continuously attack the Numidars until they all are dead, or can hunt them down one by one if they flee.
Realism
To offer a good base for the horror survival and tactical aspects, the game will be as
realistic as possible, and will be balanced between playability, technical limitations
and complete realism.
Customization
Every variable that defines gameplay can be altered by the host. Variable values can also be saved to create custom game modes.
Game modes
Each game mode is a set of rules, parameters and a different situation.
Missions
There are seven game modes for atmospheric gameplay (in which open fights are just a minor aspect of gameplay).
· Basic mode (The default game mode.)
· Expert mode (Basic mode without character identification. It is nearly impossible to track the other players which creates a more confusing atmosphere and increases the difficulty of the game. Only the most vigilant will succeed in this mode.)
· Conspiracy mode (This mode has the lowest amount of combat, and requires both the Numidar and Metamorph players to use their intelligence and awareness to the limits.)
· Paranoia mode (Conspiracy mode without character identification.)
· Heroism mode (A special version of basic mode in which the Numidars do not have to survive to achive victory.)
· Infection mode (The Metamorphs can spread themselves like a virus, by infecting the Numidars. With each infection a Numidar becomes a Metamorph.)
· Imitation mode (The Metamorphs morph into the form of common objects and try to avoid being uncovered until the mission timer reaches zero.)
Combat
There are five combat game modes which are based on open fighting (including individual and team combat).
· Combat mode (Deathmatch or team-deathmatch. It will only be revealed at the end of the round who had the most kills.)
· Chase mode (One invincible monster chases the other players until the timer reaches zero.)
· Hunt mode (Horror survival, fighting numerous monsters until the rescue team arrives.)
· Prototype master mode (Deathmatch for holding a prototype device. The person holding it the longer before the timer reaches zero wins.)
· Faction mode (Three factions are fighting eachother. It is not known which faction acquired the most kills, but to win, a faction must kill the most.)
Atmosphere and story
The game includes a fictional world and a related short storyline.
